In August and September thousands of arctic-breeding shorebirds from more than a dozen species migrate through New York on their way south. They stop to forage on mudflats, probing the wet ground for various worms and other invertebrates. Here, a flock takes flight over "East Pond", flushed by a marauding Peregrine Falcon.
