Garbage order. Herring Gulls. Brooklyn
A Herring Gull unwittingly goes organic by dining on leftovers from 'Wholefoods' - meanwhile claiming he's king of the Hill. Herring Gulls - and other species of Gull - have 'pecking orders' or loose hierarchies articulated by scaled dominance and submission. Most gull species coyly benefit from human refuse and economies of waste. Their numbers greatly increased in NYC during the Fresh Kill years. Those numbers are now plummeting following the closing of the 'world's largest dump' on Staten Island.
